THE CHALLENGE
The team was tasked with building a multi-year vision for compelling digital wellness experiences for large audiences to inspire wearable device sales.

Incumbent solutions were focused on a singular wellness solution such as fitness or mental health instead of approaching wellness as a holistic experience, spanning from physical activity to nutrition to rest and recovery to mindfulness.

MY ROLE
Leading a 10-person team across disciplines: qualitative research, data science, business design, interaction.

THE DESIGN
Over the course of 12 weeks, our team conducted research with 200+ users and uncovered significant pains and unmet needs related to achieving health and wellness goals, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify opportunities, validate personas, and increase confidence in potential ideas.

The team anchored designs in the transtheoretical model of behavior change and inspired by different expert perspectives (e.g. sleep specialists, spiritual wellbeing experts, mental health experts, behavioral scientists, substance use treatment therapists). The team identified factors that are often missing in the experience today when people are struggling to make progress with their wellness goals. These micro-moments of reflection are a critical component in sustained change, and all of these levers build resilience.

We co-created our solutions with expert feedback from behavior scientists, and anchored our concepts around the largest audiences we wanted to reach. With these solutions, we sought to develop a trusted relationship with consumer segments we identified as early in their journey, with a beginner's mindset. The team built on the client’s strengths as the leader in Android's open ecosystem to create an experience that is holistic, personal, and relevant.
