Creating an AI-powered financial insights and intelligent trading platform
THE CHALLENGE
A UK-based trading company, well-established in high-risk trading, approached IDEO seeking an exploration of how to bring more high-value traders to the platform and keep them engaged.
MY ROLE
Project Lead and Interaction Designer: research planning, concept design for 3 rounds of research, budgeting and coordination including international travel and co-location for the IDEO team, managing a team of client-side UX designers, coaching embedded client team through the design process.
THE DESIGN
I led a team exploring this design challenge along with training a team of 12 client-side designers, developers and PMs.
We created multiple rounds of concepts, tested and iterated on them, facilitated decision-making processes, and also built a functional LLM prototype to demonstrate feasibility of our chosen direction.
The outcome was a new product concept that delivered enterprise-grade trade intelligence at the right moments of the trading journey—saving time, improving trade outcomes, and putting the power of a team of analysts in users’ pockets.
As a trading intelligence platform and execution destination, this concept integrated with existing brokerages and market data providers - saving traders time and helping them extend their own abilities, and use data-driven self-reflection to improve.
THE OUTCOME AND IMPACT
Our research and concept design led to the creation of a new product team within the company, including a new division of machine learning specialists focused on building out the underlying LLM.
The company also sought out a follow-on project with the same team, bringing in an additional $0.5 million worth of revenue for IDEO.
